Cursive text is characters, not a font

Unicode Mathematical Script letters are part of the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, U+1D400–U+1D7FF. The Script ranges include U+1D49C–U+1D4CF, with some positions supplied by characters in another block.

Copying the result transfers those characters rather than a font family or rich-text setting. The appearance can therefore persist in a plain-text field, including a social profile name or bio.

Why some letters look different: letterlike symbols fill the gaps

Some Script positions in the mathematical block are reserved gaps because the corresponding characters already exist in Letterlike Symbols, U+2100–U+214F. Those earlier characters complete the Script alphabet.

Confirmed substitutions include ℰ for capital E, ℛ for capital R, ℬ for capital B, ℊ for small g, ℯ for small e, and ℴ for small o. These characters come from a different block but serve as the missing Script forms.

Using cursive for a name or bio safely

Script styling covers letters. Digits and most symbols do not have Script forms and remain unchanged, because digit coverage is limited.

Screen readers may read decorative letters one by one or skip them, and some platforms may reject them. Test the result in the destination field and avoid using it for essential information. Rendering also requires a font with the requested glyphs; otherwise a missing-glyph box, or tofu, may appear: □.
